Eye Screenings

Come in for a free eye screening

Driver Licence Screening

The law stipulates that everyone renewing their driver’s licence must have their vision screened. Instead of waiting in long queues, you can have your screening conducted free of charge by an optometrist at Vision in Focus. The screening does not replace a comprehensive eye examination. It will, however, reveal any potential problems you may have before you renew your driver’s licence. You will receive an official certificate stating you have had your vision screened by one of our optometrists. The certificate indicates the condition of your vision and will be accepted by the licensing departments.

Skipper Screening

All candidates for the Skipper Coastal and Skipper offshore ≥9m are required to pass the prescribed SAMSA letter and lantern/ishihara card test. At Vision in Focus, our optometrists (members of South African Medical Association, HPCSA) will provide you with a valid test certificate.

Good stable vision is essential for each child’s development

Depending on the age of the child, different tests are used to obtain important information to assess the child’s visual ability and perceptual function.

Myopia also known as nearsightedness

One out of two people (50%) have it. With myopia, the eye is longer than normal from front to back, or the cornea (the clear window at the front of the eye) is too steeply curved.

Refractive Surgery Assessments

In order to determine if you are suitable for laser corrective eye surgery, an assessment and individually tailored advice is necessary.
